LUNGI,SIERRA LEONE
OFFERS DIVERSE LANDSCAPES, COOL SEA WINDS, AND A TEMPERATE CLIMATE.
Lungi, located in Freetown Sierra Leone, typically experiences a tropical climate with warm temperatures throughout the year. The average temperature can range from 25 °c (77°f) to 32°c (90°f).
Over the last three decades, Africa has experienced growth but without the development of new cities. Africa needs new cities. The Akuna Group aims to set a precedent by building creative and cultural African cities to support the growth of the media, entertainment, and technology sectors across the continent. Africa’s current population of 1.2 billion people is projected to reach 2.5 billion by 2050.
Lungi, home to over 4,000 residents, is strategically located near Sierra Leone’s international airport, making it a prime gateway for international visitors. The region is surrounded by populous neighboring countries, including Liberia (approximately 5.5 million), Guinea (approximately 14 million), The Gambia (approximately 2.8 million), Sierra Leone (approximately 8.8 million), Senegal (approximately 18.7 million), Mali (approximately 22.9 million), Côte d’Ivoire (approximately 28.5 million), and Guinea-Bissau (approximately 2.1 million). Together, these countries represent a potential market of over 103 million people.

Despite its significant population and strategic location, the region lacks high-quality hotels and facilities to cater to the needs of travelers and businesses. This presents a unique opportunity for international businesses and hospitality partners to position Lungi as a hub for tourism and business in Africa.
Our project also aims to make Lungi a major attraction in Africa. Upon completion, it will be tailored to emphasize the cultural and light manufacturing aspects of the Lungi area. In recent years, Africans have embraced modern living, paving the way for the next industrial revolution on the continent. Architecture, business, finance, innovation, and energy technology are set to drive Africa’s development forward. The Lungi Creative and technology Village will serve as a dynamic hub where tradition meets modernity—a place designed to foster economic growth, support local craftsmanship, and promote sustainable development, catering to the aspirations of Gen X, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha populations, while empowering local communities and connecting Africa’s future to its rich traditions.
